چکیده

Background: Thyroid nodules are abnormal growths of thyroid tissue which commonly arise within an otherwise normal gland. They may be hyperplasia or a neoplasm, but only small percentage the latter cancers. Objectives: To improve management patients and to reduce cost-effectiveness by decreasing number unnecessary fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). Patients Methods: This study was conducted on 50 known clinically suspected have solitary nodule multiple nodules, referred Radiodiagnosis Department, Ain Shams University Hospitals. The cases included 33 females 17 males (age between 41-50 years). Results: All with TIRADS 1 were benign. In 2 there 10 benign malignant nodules. 3 4 while in 5 There statistically significant difference two groups. groups regarding texture Solid higher spongiform common cystic mixed comparable Conclusion: major ultrasound features seen associated malignancy microcalcifications, taller than wider shape nodule, hypoechoic marked echopattern irregular borders presence suspicious cervical lymph nodes.

Ultrasound elastography for thyroid nodules: recent advances

Ultrasonography (US)-based elastography has been introduced as a noninvasive technique for evaluating thyroid nodules that encompasses a variety of approaches such as supersonic shear imaging and acoustic radiation force impulse imaging as well as real-time tissue elastography. However, the diagnostic performances for differentiating malignant thyroid nodules from benign ones with elastography ...

Computerize classification of Benign and malignant thyroid nodules by ultrasound imaging

Introduction: Early detection and treatment of thyroid nodules increase the cure rate and provide optimal treatment. Ultrasound is the chosen imaging technique for assessment of thyroid nodules. Confirmation of the diagnosis usually demands repeated fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB). So, current management, has morbidity and non zero mortality. The goal of the present study ...

Recent Advances in Core Needle Biopsy for Thyroid Nodules

Core needle biopsy (CNB) was introduced as an alternative diagnostic tool to fine-needle aspiration (FNA), and is increasingly being used in the preoperative assessment of thyroid nodules. CNB provides a definitive diagnosis in most cases, but it sometimes may be inconclusive. CNB has the advantage of enabling a histologic examination in relation to the surrounding thyroid tissue, immunohistoch...

Reliability of Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TIRADS) Classification in Differentiating Benign from Malignant Thyroid Nodules

Background: Ultrasonography (US) is the best diagnostic tool in the initial assessment of thyroid nodule. Giving its appropriateness and accessibility, ultrasound-based thyroid imaging reporting and data systems (TIRADS) classifications have been developed with main goal to standardize reporting and facilitate communication between practitioners, and to indicate when fine-needle aspiration biop...
